New pill aims to curb impulsive urges in opioid addiction

NCT ID NCT06628622

Summary

This study is testing if a new oral medicine, BI 1356225, can help improve impulse control in adults with opioid addiction who are already taking buprenorphine treatment. About 60 participants will be randomly assigned to take either the new medicine or a placebo pill for 8 days while continuing their standard buprenorphine. Researchers will measure changes in impulsivity using computer tasks and questionnaires to see if the new treatment is helpful and safe.
