Smart sensor could catch dangerous leaks after colon surgery

Summary

This study is testing a new monitoring device called xBar that's placed during colon cancer surgery. The device continuously checks how the surgical connection is healing to detect potential leaks early. Researchers will compare recovery outcomes for 80 patients using this sensor against past patients who had standard care.
