New Light-Based device aims to make epidural placement safer

Summary
This study is testing a new device called BrightPoint that uses light to help doctors more accurately find the correct space in the spine when placing an epidural needle for back surgery. The goal is to see if this tool can serve as a reliable backup check to the standard technique and help train new doctors. Researchers will enroll 36 patients having back surgery to see if the device improves accuracy and safety.
