Light-Based scanner could help breast cancer patients avoid repeat surgeries
NCT ID NCT07111728
Summary
This study is testing a new device that uses light and artificial intelligence to help surgeons check if all cancer has been removed during breast-conserving surgery. The device scans the removed tissue during the operation and quickly identifies areas where cancer cells might remain at the edges. If successful, this could help more patients avoid needing a second surgery to remove remaining cancer cells.
