First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach for people with locally advanced rectal cancer. Instead of standard large-field radiation before surgery, it uses MRI-guided, short-course radiation targeted only at the tumor, combined with immunotherapy and chemotherapy. The goal is to reduce side effects and lower the risk of cancer spreading, while keeping local control rates high. About 60 adults aged 18-75 with a specific type of rectal cancer will participate.
