Simpler staple method could reduce dangerous colon surgery leaks
NCT ID NCT07417358
Summary
This study is testing whether a simpler one-staple technique for reconnecting the colon after surgery is safer than the standard two-staple method. Researchers will follow 500 patients having planned colon surgery for cancer or diverticulitis to see if the simpler technique reduces dangerous leaks where the colon is reconnected. They'll compare results to past patients who had the standard technique to see which approach works better.
