Breakthrough filter aims to make surgery safer and greener

NCT ID NCT03014336

Summary

This study tested a new device called memsorb that filters carbon dioxide from the breathing circuit during anesthesia, instead of using chemical granules. The goal was to see if it works as well as current methods while potentially being safer and better for the environment. It was tested on 286 low-to-medium risk patients having scheduled surgery.
