Major trial tests new leukemia combo hoping to deepen remission

Summary

This study is comparing a new two-drug combination (sonrotoclax plus zanubrutinib) against an established two-drug combination (venetoclax plus acalabrutinib) for adults with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The goal is to see if the new combination is more effective at controlling the cancer and achieving deep remission, as measured by minimal residual disease, and if it is safe. About 500 participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two treatment regimens for a fixed duration.
