Comfort vs. crisis: new masks aim to keep patients breathing

NCT ID NCT07157098

Summary

This study is testing new, potentially more comfortable breathing devices for people hospitalized with acute respiratory failure and high carbon dioxide levels. It will compare a new nasal oxygen tube and a new mask design to the standard masks currently used in hospitals. The goal is to see if the new devices are as effective at helping patients breathe and removing carbon dioxide, while also being more comfortable so patients are less likely to remove them.
