Scientists test 'Flashlight' scan to see Parkinson's brain clumps

NCT ID NCT06891703

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new type of brain scan to see if it can safely and reliably detect clumps of a protein called alpha-synuclein in the brain. These protein clumps are involved in Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, and multiple system atrophy. Researchers will compare brain scans from healthy volunteers and people with these conditions to see if the new imaging method can spot differences.
