Tiny brain implant could replace major surgery for fluid buildup

NCT ID NCT05250505

Summary

This study is testing a new medical device called the eShunt System for people with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a condition where excess fluid builds up in the brain. The small, permanent implant is placed using a minimally invasive procedure to drain the fluid, potentially avoiding more invasive brain surgery. Researchers are checking if this new approach is safe and effective for 30 older adults who would normally need traditional surgery.
