New brace aims to stop spine surgery setbacks

NCT ID NCT06491030

Summary

This study is testing if a new type of post-surgery back brace can prevent a common complication called proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK), where the spine curves abnormally above the surgical site. It will involve 84 adults undergoing major spinal fusion surgery for deformity. Patients will be randomly assigned to use either the new brace or follow standard care to see which is better at preventing this problem.
