Needle-Free fistula: new device could make dialysis access easier

NCT ID NCT02036671

Summary

This study tested a medical device called the FLEX System that creates dialysis access without major surgery. The device makes a connection between an artery and vein through a small needle puncture instead of an open surgical cut. Researchers followed 80 kidney failure patients for 12 months to see if this less invasive approach was safe and created usable access for their regular dialysis treatments.
