Could this 3D scan replace mammograms for breast cancer detection?

NCT ID NCT05036096

Summary

This study is testing a new 3D imaging technology called cone beam breast CT (KBCT) to see if it can detect breast cancer as well as or better than standard mammograms. Over 1,000 women aged 40 and older will receive both a mammogram and the new 3D scan within a few weeks of each other. Researchers will compare the images from both tests to see which one finds potential cancers more clearly and with fewer unnecessary callbacks.
