Scientists track nerve health in preemies to build future diagnostic tool
NCT ID NCT07159555
Summary
This study aims to understand normal levels of a nerve protein called neurofilament in healthy premature babies. Researchers will measure this protein in small blood samples taken during routine medical care from 15 babies born between 34 and 37 weeks. The goal is to create a reference guide to help doctors in the future better diagnose and treat nerve-related diseases like spinal muscular atrophy in newborns.
