First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested a system that combines virtual reality (VR) with brainwave monitoring (neurofeedback) to help people manage chronic back pain without using opioid drugs. Eleven adults with severe back pain took part in up to 20 sessions. The goal was to see if the approach was comfortable and safe, and whether it could reduce pain. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
