Could nerve stretching ease heel pain? small study aims to find out

NCT ID NCT07179666

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This pilot study will test whether nerve gliding exercises (neural mobilization) can reduce pain and improve foot function in people with plantar fasciitis. Twelve adults aged 19 to 40 will be randomly assigned to either nerve gliding or standard physiotherapy for three weeks. Researchers will measure changes in foot pressure, pain, and daily function to see if the nerve-focused approach offers any advantage.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

neural mobilization (nerve gliding exercises)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple, non-drug exercise technique to ease heel pain and improve foot function for people with plantar fasciitis.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study with only 12 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is early-stage and may show no clear benefit over standard physiotherapy.
