New implant zaps nerves to keep sleep apnea patients breathing

NCT ID NCT07049744

Summary

This study is testing a small, implanted device that sends mild electrical pulses to a nerve in the tongue to keep the airway open during sleep. It's for adults with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea who have tried and can't use the standard CPAP mask treatment. Researchers will check if the device is safe and if it successfully reduces breathing pauses during sleep.
