Ear zaps may rewire pain signals, tiny study hints
NCT ID NCT07184190
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 28, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This small pilot study tested whether stimulating a nerve in the ear (the auriculotemporal nerve) with mild electrical pulses can change how healthy people process pain. Twelve volunteers without pain received two types of stimulation on different days, and researchers measured their pain thresholds and pain modulation. The goal was to gather initial knowledge about this new technique, not to treat any disease.
