Shock therapy for nerves: surgery plus electricity may speed recovery

NCT ID NCT07592065

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether giving a mild electrical stimulation to a compressed nerve during surgery can help it recover faster. About 100 adults with nerve compression (like carpal tunnel or a pinched nerve in the spine) will be randomly assigned to receive the stimulation or not. Researchers will measure muscle strength and disability up to 6 months after surgery to see if the stimulation makes a difference.
