Summary

This study tests a nerve-monitoring device that alerts surgeons when a child's vocal cord nerve is at risk during throat, chest, or heart surgery. About 90 children under 18 will be randomly assigned to standard care or standard care plus the monitor. After surgery, doctors will check vocal cord movement and ask about voice and swallowing. The goal is to see if the device can lower the chance of nerve injury and improve recovery.
