Nerve block showdown: new injection tested to stop deadly brain spasms

NCT ID NCT06134583

Summary

This study tested two different nerve-block injection procedures to treat dangerous blood vessel spasms (vasospasm) that can occur after a traumatic brain bleed. Sixty patients with this severe condition were randomly assigned to receive either a newer 'superior cervical' block or a more established 'stellate ganglion' block, alongside standard care. Researchers measured changes in blood flow in the brain to see which approach was more effective at easing the spasms and preventing further brain injury.
