Numbing the hip, not the whole body: better recovery for seniors after hip replacement?

NCT ID NCT07163598

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looked at 516 older patients (over 60) who had hip replacement surgery. It compared those who received a nerve block (numbing only the hip area) to those who had general anesthesia (being put to sleep). The goal was to see which group had better early recovery, measured by pain, comfort, and ability to move. Results suggest nerve block may lead to a smoother and faster recovery right after surgery.
