Doctors probe Long-Term nerve safety of common surgery painkiller in kids

NCT ID NCT07474909

Summary

This study aims to find the safest way to give a pain medication called dexamethasone to children having hand or forearm surgery. Researchers will compare giving the drug directly near the nerves (perineural) versus into a vein (intravenous) to see if one method causes any long-term nerve damage. They will follow 150 children for a full year after surgery, checking their nerve function and pain levels.
