Nerve block breakthrough: easing hip surgery pain and inflammation

NCT ID NCT07023107

Summary

This study tested whether a specific nerve block, given during hip replacement surgery, could reduce patients' pain and lower their body's stress and inflammatory response. It involved 60 older adults undergoing hip replacement. Researchers compared pain levels, opioid use, and blood markers of inflammation between those who received the nerve block and those who did not.
