First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether a nerve block called an erector spinae plane block (ESPB) can quickly reduce low back pain in the emergency department. About 62 adults with back pain for less than 6 weeks will receive either the ESPB or a placebo injection. Researchers will track pain levels for up to 2 hours and check on pain, disability, and return to work after 7 days.
