New hope for phantom pain: doctors try numbing the 'Good' leg

NCT ID NCT06045936

Summary

This study is testing if a pain-relieving injection (like Lidocaine) around the sciatic nerve in a person's healthy leg can reduce hard-to-treat phantom or residual limb pain in their amputated leg. Researchers at Mayo Clinic are recruiting 20 adults with lower limb amputation who have had significant pain for over 6 months. The goal is to see if this unusual approach improves pain, function, and daily activity.
