Summary
This study tested whether adding immunotherapy to standard chemoradiation helps people with a certain type of ultra-low rectal cancer (MSS type) avoid permanent colostomy. About 200 patients who wanted to keep their anus were enrolled. The main goal was to see how many achieved a complete clinical response, meaning no cancer detectable after treatment.
