New combo therapy shows promise in aggressive breast cancer trial

NCT ID NCT02883062

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding an immunotherapy drug (atezolizumab) to standard chemotherapy before surgery helps shrink tumors more than chemo alone in people with stage II-III triple negative breast cancer. About 67 participants received either chemo alone or chemo plus atezolizumab. The main goals are to see if the combination increases the chance of no cancer remaining at surgery and to monitor side effects.
