First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study compares two surgeries for macular holes, a common cause of vision loss. The new method uses a tissue flap without a gas bubble, while the standard method uses a gas bubble. 180 adults with macular holes will be randomly assigned to one surgery. The goal is to see if the new method closes the hole just as well, with fewer recovery restrictions.
