One less needle: device aims to stop false infection alarms

NCT ID NCT06806709

Summary

This trial is testing if a needle-free device can collect cleaner blood samples for infection testing. When blood samples get contaminated by skin germs, it can lead to false alarms and unnecessary antibiotic use. The study will compare the new device against the standard needle method in over 1,100 emergency room patients. The goal is to get more accurate test results and spare patients extra needle sticks.
