Nerve block before neck surgery may cut painkiller use

NCT ID NCT07539935

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether an ultrasound-guided nerve block (superficial cervical plexus block) given before neck surgery can lower pain after the operation and reduce the need for opioid painkillers. Sixty adults aged 18-60 having elective neck surgery under general anesthesia will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block or standard care. Pain levels and total opioid use will be measured for 24 hours after surgery.
