Massage or machines? new study tests best Add-On for neck pain relief
NCT ID NCT07150143
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding connective tissue massage or electrotherapy (infrared, ultrasound, TENS) to standard neck exercises helps people with chronic neck pain more than exercises alone. About 27 adults aged 18–65 will be assigned to one of three groups and treated twice a week for eight weeks. Researchers will measure pain, disability, endurance, and quality of life to see which combination works best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
connective tissue massage and electrotherapy (infrared, ultrasound, TENS)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that adding massage or electrotherapy to standard exercises provides better pain relief and function for people with chronic neck pain.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 27 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatments are temporary and aim to ease symptoms, not cure the condition.
