Neck pain showdown: brain education vs. muscle release

NCT ID NCT06320938

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tested two different treatments for chronic neck pain: neuroscience-based pain education (teaching patients about how the brain processes pain) and myofascial induction (a hands-on technique to release tight muscles). Both were combined with home exercises. Sixty adults with long-term neck pain took part. The goal was to see which approach better reduced pain and improved quality of life.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

neuroscience-based pain education and myofascial induction technique

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward better non-drug treatments for chronic neck pain, improving pain and quality of life without medication.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed trial with only 60 participants. Results may not apply to everyone, and the effects may be modest or not last long.
