New rules could spare thousands from unnecessary neck braces and ER trips

NCT ID NCT06983873

Summary

This study aims to test a new set of decision rules for paramedics and firefighters in France when they respond to patients with potential neck injuries. The goal is to help these first responders better decide which patients truly need a stabilizing neck collar and a trip to the emergency room, and which can safely avoid them. By using these rules, researchers hope to reduce unnecessary hospital visits and imaging tests while still correctly identifying patients at serious risk.
