Scientists probe immune system clues to protect tiniest babies from devastating gut disease
NCT ID NCT00747851
Summary
This study aims to understand why some premature babies develop a serious intestinal disease called necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Researchers will collect and analyze blood cells from premature and full-term babies to see how they respond to a specific substance linked to the disease. The goal is to learn more about the disease process to help find ways to prevent or treat it in the future.
