Doctors search for clues to predict which sick newborns will get worse

NCT ID NCT07249697

Summary

This study looked back at medical records of 118 newborns with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a serious intestinal disease. Researchers analyzed babies' birth details, symptoms, and blood test results to find patterns that could help doctors predict which babies might develop severe complications or die. The goal is to create better tools for early identification of high-risk infants so they can receive more intensive care sooner.
