Summary
This study looked back at the medical records of 400 newborns with a serious gut disease called necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). The goal was to see if combining blood test results, organ function scores, and other clinical signs could better predict which babies would develop a hole in their bowel or die. The researchers hope this will help doctors identify high-risk babies earlier and improve their care.
