Doctors search for clues to save babies from deadly bowel disease

NCT ID NCT07207915

Summary

This study looked back at medical records of 400 newborns with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a serious and sometimes fatal bowel disease. Researchers analyzed information like birth weight, blood test results, and organ function scores to find patterns that might predict which babies would develop severe complications or die. The goal is to help doctors identify high-risk babies earlier so they can provide more targeted care.
