Breathing machine kids get antibiotic mist to fight deadly pneumonia

NCT ID NCT06488794

Summary

This study is testing whether giving a mist of the antibiotic colistimethate sodium through a nebulizer can prevent pneumonia in children who need a ventilator to breathe. Researchers will compare the antibiotic mist to a harmless saltwater mist (placebo) in 400 children under 14 years old. The goal is to see if the treatment reduces lung infections, shortens time on the ventilator, and improves other health outcomes.
