First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested whether using near-infrared light to see veins under the skin helps doctors draw blood or start an IV on the first try in children with hard-to-find veins. The study included 163 children, from newborns to age 18, in the hospital or emergency room. Researchers compared the light method to the standard approach of feeling for veins.
