ER tube for blocked bowel: helpful or just painful?
NCT ID NCT06262815
First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026
Summary
This study looks at 400 adults with a small bowel blockage in the ER to see if placing a tube through the nose into the stomach actually helps. The tube is meant to relieve pain and pressure, but it can be very uncomfortable. Researchers will also check if frailty in older patients affects their recovery. The goal is to find out if this routine treatment is truly useful.
