Simple nasal spray could shield cancer survivors from debilitating hearing loss
NCT ID NCT07189572
Summary
This study is testing if a common steroid nasal spray can prevent a frequent and painful side effect of radiation therapy for a type of head and neck cancer. The side effect, fluid buildup in the middle ear, often leads to hearing loss and a feeling of fullness, sometimes requiring surgery. Researchers want to see if using the spray during and after radiation can reduce inflammation and prevent this problem, offering a simple, non-invasive way to improve patients' quality of life.
