Nasal spray may ward off Post-Surgery confusion in seniors
NCT ID NCT07538284
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether a nasal spray called dexmedetomidine, used at night, can help older adults (ages 65-90) sleep better and prevent delirium (sudden confusion) after major abdominal surgery. Half of the 400 participants will receive the spray, and half will receive a placebo. The goal is to see if improving sleep can reduce the risk of postoperative confusion.
