Spit test could predict newborn opioid withdrawal severity

NCT ID NCT05937594

Summary

This study aims to understand how opioid withdrawal affects a newborn's brain and find better ways to predict which babies will have more severe symptoms. Researchers will collect saliva from 50 opioid-exposed newborns to look for tiny molecules that might act as warning signs. The goal is to find biological markers that could help doctors personalize treatment and improve long-term outcomes for these infants.
