Wake-Up call: drug may speed recovery from surgery anesthesia

NCT ID NCT04713358

Summary

This study tested whether a drug called nalmefene improves how patients wake up from general anesthesia after surgery. Researchers enrolled 542 adults having elective surgeries to see if nalmefene could help them become alert faster, reduce agitation, and leave the recovery room sooner. The goal was to make the recovery period more comfortable and efficient by reversing some lingering sedative effects of common pain medications.
