New Gut-Targeted drug offers hope for cancer patients struggling with opioid side effects

Summary

This study examines how well a medication called naldemedine works for cancer patients who experience constipation as a side effect of opioid pain medication. Researchers will follow 100 adult cancer patients in the Netherlands who are already using laxatives but still have significant constipation. The goal is to measure improvements in bowel function and gather feedback on patients' experiences and satisfaction with this newer treatment option.
