Common drug tested as lifesaver for dangerous transplant side effect

NCT ID NCT07279610

Summary

This study is testing whether N-acetylcysteine (NAC), a safe and affordable drug, can treat a severe and potentially fatal blood vessel complication that can happen after a stem cell transplant. It will enroll 44 adult patients who have developed this condition, called TA-TMA, to see if NAC can improve their blood counts, organ function, and survival. The goal is to find a more accessible and effective treatment than current expensive options.
