Could a common supplement be the key to faster, less painful surgery recovery?
NCT ID NCT07227649
Summary
This study is testing whether taking the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) around the time of surgery can help people recover better. Researchers want to see if NAC reduces pain, decreases the need for opioid painkillers, and improves function after common outpatient procedures on the hand, wrist, foot, or ankle. They will compare NAC to a placebo pill in 80 participants and track pain levels, medication use, and recovery through daily surveys and blood tests.
