New hope for deadly liver disease? study tests common supplement
NCT ID NCT05294744
Summary
This study is testing whether adding the supplement N-acetylcysteine (NAC) to the standard steroid treatment helps people with severe alcoholic hepatitis live longer. Researchers will compare survival rates at 6 months between patients receiving steroids alone and those receiving steroids plus NAC. The goal is to find a better treatment option for this serious liver condition where current options are limited.
